VIDEO. I can’t believe how the dairy aisle has exploded. Let’s chat about kefir. Have you tried it? It’s a fermented yogurt-like drink traditionally made from cow’s or goat’s milk by adding kefir ‘grains’. These aren’t grains that you might think of but rather are cultures of yeast and lactic acid that look like cauliflower.
The grains multiply and ferment the sugars in the milk turning it into kefir. Why drink it? For the wide variety of probiotics to help keep the digestive tract healthy. It has a fresh tart taste. Some varieties are flavored with added sweeteners while others are plain so you need to check the ingredient label closely for the type you want.
